The 2011 Tattersall's Club
Landscape Art Prize was an outstanding event comprising a
spectacular line up of activities spanning three art filled weeks.
Seventy-five artists were accepted to participate this year, many
of which are finalists and winners of the prestigious Archibald,
Wynne, Sulman and Moran art awards. The Tattersall's Club Landscape
Art Prize in its twenty-second year remains a highly regarded and
sought after invitation award.
The 2011 Tattersall’s Club
Landscape Art Prize was judged by Associate Professor Dr Andrew
McNamara, head of Art & Design in the Creative Industries
Faculty at QUT; Margie Fraser, Member of the Board of Trustees of
the Queensland Art Gallery and John Beard, award winning Australian
artist and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Art Gallery of
New South Wales. The winner Joe Furlonger, was announced at the
opening night cocktail party and presented with the prize of
$25,000 by the Club President Mr John McCoy.
In addition to the Art Prize, a
special non-competitive exhibition Country to Coast, was displayed on the Club’s North Balcony and
showcased the works of twelve Queensland artists depicting images
of Queensland from the rural countryside to the coast.
The prize is hosted at the
Tattersall’s Club for the opening week and is moved to Waterfront
Place, Eagle Street Brisbane, for public viewing in the subsequent
two weeks.
